POSEIDON focuses on the development of a methodology for Mediterranean cities that not only share similar climatic characteristics, but also share common social habits and lifestyles. The process will be initiated through a ‘Multicriteria Decision Analysis to identify and select the areas of cities most suitable for PED implementation. Next, the POSEIDON tool, a software to support, model and simulate PED design, will be developed. In parallel, the POSEIDON Lab will be implemented, which engages neighborhood residents and transforms them into change actors capable of supporting PED implementation. As a result, the methodology will generate a transition scenario from the initial state of the neighborhood to a DPE that includes citizens in an equitable and informed way. In this way, POSEIDON aims to demonstrate the opportunity that PEDs represent for energy transition and climate neutrality and to promote their integration into the planning strategies of Mediterranean cities.
