The intervention, carried out as part of the Jubilee 2025 works, realized the pedestrianization of the square and to create a pedestrian corridor connecting Castel Sant’Angelo with San Pietro. The work of creating an underground tunnel for cars allowed for the rethinking of a space frequented by tourists and citizens. Great attention was paid to creating a space as welcoming as possible, with benches and elimination of architectural barriers, which can also be frequented during the summer months. Instead of asphalt, sanpietrini paving was made, trees were planted, and two large circular fountains were built. In addition, upgrading work is underway in the overlooking Mole Adriana gardens, including the planting of 88 trees.
