Roma Capitale is a partner in the project PROJECT LET’SGOv – GOverning the Transition through pilot actions a 2-year project coordinated by the City of Bologna participating in the NetZero Cities Pilot Program, a two-year program funded by the European Union under the Mission for 100 climate neutraI and smart cities by 2030.
Let’sGOv focus on reducing emissions by exploring enhanced governance models to agree on new forms of energy alliances with which to accelerate the transition process and unlock new resources (e.g., finance, data, skills, etc.) for the energy transition.
The 9 project partner cities focus on enhancing internal and external governance to solve some of the key challenges to achieving carbon neutrality by acting on shared and specific activities and innovative actions , through 3 thematic clusters: engagement, data, and finance. Over the course of the two-year project, these cities will reflect and learn, providing opportunities for other cities to follow in their footsteps, replicating and/or adapting approaches and solutions relevant to their context.
What Rome does through the project
The Rome pilot project focuses on the topic of data and key indicators included in the Municipality’s Energy and Climate Plans, in particular the PAESC and the Climate City Contract. For the purpose of periodic monitoring of these instruments, required by both the Covenant of Mayors and NZC, it is in fact necessary to periodically collect data, some of which is held by others outside the Municipality, in other cases by the various Municipal structures.
Roma Capitale, thanks to the project funds, developed the energy and environmental data sharing portal: the purpose was to have a single portal for the management and processing of energy and environmental data allowing their standardization in the retrieval process and interoperability of data, as well as effective and immediate communication of progress to citizens.
