Energy

The energy we use to heat our homes, to move around and for various human activities is the main cause of climate change because mainly fossil fuels are used for its production. Moreover, household and business energy expenditures are rising precisely because of Italy’s dependence on gas, coal and oil imports.

The solution: find alternatives

Reducing energy consumption, improving the efficiency of production and management systems, and increasing production from renewable sources is the most effective way forward to stop climate change and create a safe and sustainable energy model from both environmental and economic perspectives.
Roma Capitale is committed with plans, programs and interventions to accelerate the energy transition to a more efficient and renewable system of energy production, management and sharing.

In fact, Rome can become a more modern and livable city by focusing on widespread energy upgrading of buildings aimed at zero emissions, the development of solar photovoltaics for clean energy production and its sharing through energy communities, increasingly efficient zero-emission mobility, and the reduction of emissions from waste and production activities are renewable.

The growth of solar photovoltaic in Rome

In 2024, according to data from Areti, there were 6219 new solar PV plants installed for a total of 46 Mw, bringing the total installed in Rome to 29610 plants and 354 MW. It is worth noting the growth in the last two years that put Rome among the municipalities with the largest installations.
