document<\/strong> that certifies our gas and electricity withdrawals from the distribution network.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Let\u2019s see <strong>what information is useful to understand our consumption and related costs<\/strong> that we can read from gas and electricity bills.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-54909863 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"54909863\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Reading the electricity bill<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-2621a44a elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"2621a44a\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>The electricity <strong>travels to our homes via electric cables<\/strong> to the <strong>delivery point<\/strong> (\u201c<em>Point Of Delivery<\/em>\u201d \u2013 <strong>POD<\/strong>) to which is associated a <strong>unique code<\/strong> that identifies our. The POD is connected to <strong>a meter that measures the electricity consumption<\/strong> of our home. Electricity is measured in <strong>kWh<\/strong> (<em>kilowatt hours<\/em>).   <\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Generally speaking, <strong>the costs associated with electricity consumption<\/strong> are divided into <strong>three different categories<\/strong>:<\/span><\/p><ol><li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Costs <strong>relating to energy consumption<\/strong> in kWh (kilowatt-hours) (the more energy you use, the more you pay). The <strong>amounts<\/strong> are expressed in <strong>\u20ac\/kWh<\/strong>. <\/span><\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Costs <strong>relating to the power<\/strong> in kW (kilowatts) available at the meter (the more kW of power I use, the more \u20ac I pay per kW). The <strong>amounts<\/strong> are expressed in <strong>\u20ac\/kW<\/strong>.<\/span><\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Fixed monthly charges<\/strong> that are independent of both consumption and power. known as<\/span> <em style=\"font-family: -apple-system, BlinkMacSystemFont, 'Segoe UI', Roboto, 'Helvetica Neue', Arial, 'Noto Sans', sans-serif, 'Apple Color Emoji', 'Segoe UI Emoji', 'Segoe UI Symbol', 'Noto Color Emoji';\"><strong>\u2018pass-through costs\u2019<\/strong><\/em><span style=\"font-family: -apple-system, BlinkMacSystemFont, 'Segoe UI', Roboto, 'Helvetica Neue', Arial, 'Noto amounts that can be compared across the various offers and <strong><em>which may vary from seller to seller.<\/em><\/strong><\/p><p>They are shown on the bill both in the <em><strong>\u2018Energy Statement\u2019<\/strong><\/em> section, labelled <em>\u2018of which: cost of energy supplied\u2019<\/em>, and in the <em><strong>\u2018Tariff\u2019<\/strong><\/em> section, labelled <em>\u2018total amount due for the tariff\u2019<\/em>.<\/p><p>Furthermore, these amounts <strong>are set out in the sales contracts<\/strong> under the heading <em>\u2018Sale of electricity\u2019<\/em>.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-1c2f2d96 e-con-full e-flex e-con e-child\" data-id=\"1c2f2d96\"
