Energy Communities have a variety of ways to finance themselves and get their project started<\/strong>, including raising capital among their members or locally, accessing bank credit or participating in public or private foundation calls.<\/strong> You can also combine<\/strong> these different forms of financing to find the best solution<\/strong> to meet the needs and pursue the goals of your Energy Community.<\/span><\/p>

The main costs<\/strong> include the construction of the renewable energy facilities and the establishment and start-up of the legal entity<\/strong> (which will be an association, cooperative, holding foundation, …). <\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\t

Direct Financing<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tFirst of all, future members of the community can <\/span>finance directly<\/b> the project by providing membership fees to the legal entity<\/strong> that will finance the investment, or by organizing specific fundraising<\/strong> events among its members.<\/strong><\/span>\n\nIt is also possible to provide for different levels of funding<\/strong>, giving each member who joins the opportunity to do so according to his or her means.<\/span>\n\nIt is also important to keep in mind that community members with greater means can make the investment themselves to set up their own plant<\/strong>, thus making their consumption more efficient and, at the same time, generating energy to be shared within the ERC.<\/strong> As of today, the Bonus Casa<\/a><\/strong>, which makes it possible to accrue a tax deduction on energy efficiency expenses on household utilities, which also include the installation of photovoltaic systems.\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
\n\t\t\t\t\t

Crowdfunding<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

Energy Communities can launch <\/span>crowdfunding campaigns<\/b>, to raise widespread capital, including by relying on one of several available platforms. The Community in this way can structure fundraising campaigns with timing, forms of contribution and return to funders determinable by the members themselves.<\/strong> The ERC can also take advantage of this possibility to reach out to citizens and businesses outside the Community<\/strong>, who can espouse the project’s goals and fund its activities, even though they may not fall within the ERC’s perimeter. These are the cases of stakeholders who, however, do not have utilities within the primary reference cabin or are entities excluded from the regulations, such as large enterprises or companies that sell energy. <\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Bank credit<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

Energy Communities can apply for financing by turning to the <\/span>banks<\/b> and <\/span>lending institutions<\/b>, which are developing ad hoc proposals to support RECs. In this case, the Community will certainly need to develop a structured and well-detailed proposal to present to the chosen bank<\/strong>, which will assess the soundness of the project in order to approve the financing to the Energy Community. In this case, it will be important to consider the financing costs<\/strong> (such as interest rates, commission fees, …) within the operating expenses of the ERC<\/strong>, so that the economic viability of the project can be verified. <\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Government funding<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

To date, the Lazio Region<\/strong> has provided a public notice for “Investment Support for Renewable Energy Communities”<\/a><\/strong> by providing a non-repayable<\/strong> grant to finance the installations of RECs located in the region. <\/p>

Roma Capitale<\/strong> has active the Territorial Desk for Microcredit.<\/a><\/strong>, with the aim of offering financing with lowered interest rates<\/strong>. Energy Communities in cooperative form can fall within the parameters of this form of support. <\/p>

To receive information<\/strong> and to initiate paperwork<\/strong>, those interested in Entrepreneurial Microcredit and Social Microcredit should contact the Desk exclusively<\/span><\/strong> by telephone<\/strong>, through the contact center ChiamaRoma 060606<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>

For Energy Communities operating as cooperative enterprises<\/strong>, it is also possible to refer to proposals from public bodies and national agencies dedicated to development. These include the Italy Social Economy call for proposals<\/strong><\/a>, an incentive from the Ministry of Enterprise and Made in Italy<\/strong> aimed at companies that carry out activities of social utility and general interest, the management of which is entrusted to Invitalia<\/strong>. Among the criteria for accessing the call is the enhancement and protection of the environment<\/strong>, which Energy Communities have among their prerequisites. <\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Funding from private foundations<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

Finally, we recall that there are several <\/span>private foundations<\/b> that are activating calls for proposals and providing grants directly to Energy Communities for their start-up and for the costs of setting up the facilities. <\/span> <\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

Energy Bank Foundation<\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

It was established with the aim of supporting individuals and families in economic and social hardship<\/strong> by implementing projects related to combating energy poverty.<\/strong> Among them, the implementation of Renewable and Solidarity Energy Communities<\/strong> (RESCs) are one of the main activities<\/strong> that the Energy Bank has developed to concretely help vulnerable people. <\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
