The Renewable and Solidarity Energy Community (CERS) “Le Vele” was established with the aim of creating a network of citizens and associations who, sharing the aims of the Leonarda Vaccari Institute, work together to produce and share renewable energy.
The Leonarda Vaccari Institute, a public, non-profit organisation, has been involved for almost ninety years in caring for and welcoming developmental and adult patients with neuromotor disabilities and cognitive disorders. The electricity produced is shared among the members of the community, helping to reduce CO₂ emissions by around 43 tonnes per year, equivalent to the planting of approximately 1,438 trees. The savings obtained and the proceeds from the ESRD are used to finance social and health interventions, supporting specific projects aimed at the Institute’s current and future patients.
